La Hija De Moctezuma is an all-gravity brewery hidden away in a small town in the Catalan Pyrenees. A local legend tells the story of the daughter of Moctezuma, the last Aztic king, who hid away a treasure of pure gold in the mountains.
The brewers are two Mexican brothers who are inspired by the craftmanship of historical brewing, making beers with unique local ingredients with awareness of the present moment and keeping the treasure of La Hija De Moctezuma alive!
In our all-gravity brewery we use spring water from the Pyrenees and no pumps, which means the water flows from the top of the moutains straight into your glass.
We collect water from a local spring in the Catalan Pyrenees.
We forage herbs and flowers and process them ourselves. Like the dandelion flower for Changolion.
For some of our beers, like Lazarus, we use locally foraged hops from the Catalan Pyrenees.
We do what we can to make the brewery sustainable and aim to be completely solar powered by 2024.
No pumps are used, the beer flows from kettle to fermenter by gravity, preserving all the ingredients in the purest form.
The leftover malt goes to the neighbours: the cows!
